Under the Disabled Persons (Employment)
Act 1944 an employer, at least 3% of an employer's workforce
had to be registered disabled people. This obligation
was overtaken by the requirements of the Disability
Discrimination Act (DDA). Details of this Act can be

The DDA allows individuals the right to non-discrimination
on the basis of disability and puts a new duty on employers
to make "reasonable adjustments" to the workplace/work
process to allow people with disabilities to be employed
such that they are not put at disadvantage. Corporate
Health provides the following:
- Advice on a disabled person's suitability for employment
- Advice on accommodating disabled people.
- Help with judgements as to whether an individual
satisfies the criteria of “disabled”.
- What sort of adjustments should be considered.
- Advice when an employee whom has become ill will
be covered by DDA
- Advice on what duties that employee may be able
to undertake
