Under the Disabled Persons (Employment) Act 1944 an employer, at least 3% of an employer's workforce had to be registered disabled people. This obligation was overtaken by the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). Details of this Act can be found at www.disability.gov.uk/dda .

The DDA allows individuals the right to non-discrimination on the basis of disability and puts a new duty on employers to make "reasonable adjustments" to the workplace/work process to allow people with disabilities to be employed such that they are not put at disadvantage. Corporate Health provides the following:

  • Advice on a disabled person's suitability for employment
  • Advice on accommodating disabled people.
  • Help with judgements as to whether an individual satisfies the criteria of “disabled”.
  • What sort of adjustments should be considered.
  • Advice when an employee whom has become ill will be covered by DDA
  • Advice on what duties that employee may be able to undertake
