This can be a very cost effective way of delivering occupational health services. The amount of nurse time needed on site will depend on the size of site, the number of people working there, and the type of work. The time necessary may be a half day session once a fortnight or a full time presence. The nurse would be supported by colleagues at Corporate Health Limited.

The nurse would be able to carry out a range of tasks on site including:

• Pre-employment screening
• Sickness absence advice
• Rehabilitation programme
• Health surveillance
• Exit assessments
• Well person screening
• VDU workstation assessments
• Vision screening
• Immunization and travel advice
• Healthy lifestyle advice – either to an individual or as a Health Fair.
• Liason between managers
• Treatment services
• Training courses including Stress Management.
