This can be done by :
- Questionnaire alone
- Questionnaire plus nurse screen
- Questionnaire plus medical examination
The method to be used will be decided on by the client,
but the policy will be laid down for particular grades
of staff and not decided in an ad hoc manner. In discussion
with their medical advisers, the client will want to
take into account, the types of work, the potential
hazards to the individual and the risks to the business
when deciding on pre-employment screening policy.
Questionnaire Screening
Questionnaire covering:
- Medical history
- Social history
- Family history
- Employment history
- This questionnaire is sent to Corporate Health where
it is scrutinised by a nurse who will give a fitness
rating, indicating whether there are any adjustment
issues etc.
- In some cases the nurse will refer to one of our
occupational health physicians (OHP) for advice. In
a few cases the OHP will contact the applicant’s
doctor before deciding on a fitness category.
This is an inexpensive method of pre-employment screening.
