Emergency First Aid at Work

What will I learn?

This course will give First Aiders the knowledge to enable them to take charge of an incident and carry out the most important life saving skills in the absence of or until a medical help arrives.

After attending the course, you will be able to deal with:

  • priorities of treatment - assessing and dealing with emergencies
  • basic resuscitation and the management of the unconscious casualty
  • fainting, wounds and bleeding, treatment of shock, bandaging and dressings
  • record keeping as well as looking at the contents and use of a First Aid box

What will I achieve?

Successful candidates will receive an HSE recognised Emergency First Aid at Work certificate which is valid for 3 years. It is recommended that all trained staff undertake refresher training on an annual basis.

Who should attend?

The course is suitable for an appointed First Aider within their workplace, who wants or needs to be able to deal with emergencies at work.
